Our Phenomenal Staff Members
Brian is the owner of the North Conway Music Center. Brian founded the retail store in 2009. He started Charles Double Reed Company, his specialized oboe and bassoon company in New York City in 1983 and moved to Mount Washington Valley in 1993. Brian majored in Oboe Performance at the Juilliard School of Music. Brian is a repair technician, reed maker, and long time performing musician.
John is our retail manager, string instrument and electronic repair technician, and your go-to guy for any and all questions.
John is a licensed ham radio operator, notary public, justice of the peace, computer systems specialist, and holds a degree in electro-mechanical technologies.
When he isn’t working, John enjoys nature, playing and listening to music, spending time with his three children and wife, and collecting antique electronics. He also makes a heckuva potato cannon.
Jen manages the offices at Charles Double Reed Company and North Conway Music Center. She has over 18 years of experience at CDRC, starting in customer service. She became bookkeeper over a decade ago. In addition, Jen handles human resources tasks and product management for both companies. You can usually find her answering phones, processing orders, and creating harmony when there is havoc.
Nicole is our retail assistant manager, social media caretaker, and a woodwind and brass technician. Nicole has worked with us since she was in high school, starting as a sales associate and working her way up. Her technical skill, and dedication to learning has made her a valuable member of our team, and garners great respect from both our repair and retail customers. When she isn’t working she enjoys playing her trombone, hanging out with her bearded dragon, and tending to her plants.
Ryan is a ‘pitch in and make it happen’ kind of guy, and boy do we appreciate him. His musical tastes run wide, and he can pretty much pick up any instrument and play it within about ten minutes. His infectious good humor, and ability to retain every iota of information he is presented with, make him a valuable, and enjoyable colleague. When he isn’t at the store you can find him shredding it up with his band, or pursuing his passion as a professional body piercer at White Mountain Tattoo and Body Piercing.
Gary is a smart guy, with an inclination for electronics. Gary likes eclectic music of all sorts! When he’s not here you can find him tinkering on pieces for his online store, Tribute Guitar Works, or playing on one of his custom built guitars. Gary has played guitar for over 50 years, and has rocked every single one of them. His wide knowledge of guitars, as well as his great sense of humor and kickin’ good shoes makes him one guy you don’t want to miss out on.
North Conway Music Center
We’re a locally owned business serving local and travelling musicians, students, teachers, and enthusiasts.
At first, a small space was set aside at the Charles Double Reed Company which was North of the village. We offered guitar strings and clarinet reeds to local musicians who requested them. Growth was exponential, and we added many items to our offerings including guitars, woodwinds, strings, books, music, CD’s, and accessories. Within 4 years we needed a bigger location and moved to our present location on the North Conway strip. In our ten years of existence we’ve grown from 100 sq.ft. to 4,000 sq. ft.
We continue to advance and now employ 5 staff members, and host 9 teachers. We are committed to giving back to the community, and help fund numerous musical projects around the Mount Washington Valley and beyond.
